About us

Critical Reflections is an independent website created by Dr Liz White, who has research interests in various aspects of museum, heritage and archaeology ethics. She has worked as a university lecturer since 2012 and has been based in South Korea since 2021. She has recently designed and is running a multinational MOOC for the Partnership of Asian Management Schools at Woosong University, entitled ‘Who Owns the Past?’, which was inspired by her interest in the topics discussed on this website.

Our mission

Critical Reflections aims to act as an information hub focusing on some of the complex issues facing heritage, museums and archaeology by investigating how individuals, organisations and governments throughout the world engage with the preservation and interpretation of the past.

Our vision

Critical Reflections seeks to provide valuable insights for those involved in or interested in cultural heritage. Through its exploration of key issues, Critical Reflections strives to contribute to a greater understanding of the role that heritage, museums, and archaeology play in society today.
